New Menopause Test Now Availble for Home Use

For decades women both young and old have been left to guess if their symptoms were related to menopause. A new test, cleared by the FDA for home use, is now available for women. The RU25 Plus FSH Menopause Test determines elevated follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), decreased ovarian function and menopause.

(PRWEB) August, 2003 -- Menopause on the average occurs to women about age 51, but can happen for some women much earlier. Premature ovarian failure (POF) and natural menopause before age 40 is rare, but it does occur. Early menopause can occur to women even in their 20's and 30's and often occurs after hysterectomy and tubal ligation surgeries.

Symptoms of menopause or early menopause include hot flashes, irregular menstrual cycles, heavier or lighter bleeding during periods, insomnia and interrupted sleep, mood swings and depression, heart palpitations, short-term memory loss, unexplained fatigue, vaginal dryness, and loss of sex drive (libido). Many women find their symptoms greatly interfere with their daily lives.

The symptoms of early menopause that are often seen in young women are often misdiagnosed by the medical community as being a whole host of unrelated conditions such as chronic fatigue (CFS), fibromyalgia, heart conditions, common depression, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and common allergies. For young women it's important to be diagnosed in a timely manner as long term untreated menopause is known to cause bone loss (osteoporosis) and increased risk of heart disease. Menopause symptoms and long term menopause risks can be managed in consultation with a health care physician.

"We are very excited to be able to provide this product to women", states Susan Bucher, women's health rights activist and CEO of HormoneCheck.com who is distributing the test kit. "Women young and old no longer need to wonder…am I in the menopause transition?"

The test is easy to use. It works like a home pregnancy test using urine to activate. The test is suggested for women who suspect they may be in menopause or experiencing a hormonal imbalance, but have not yet been diagnosed. "As a woman's estrogen levels and ovarian function decreases, her levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) rise. The test displays a positive result if elevated levels of FSH are found." explains Susan. "Two tests are provided with the RU25 Plus as a kit to confirm positive results. The test results provides women with useful information that she can then provide to her physician for consultation."

The RU25 Plus FSH Menopause Test Kit is available only from HormoneCheck.com. The test kit costs $24.95 plus shipping and handling; includes two tests and complete directions. For more information call 815 834-9368, or visit http://www.HormoneCheck.com
