Before Using Clonidine
* Inform your Doctor or Pharmacist if you are allergic to any prescription or non-prescription medicine; taking other medicines or have other medical problems; pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. * Check with your Doctor, Pharmacists, or Nurse if information in this leaflet causes you special concern or if you want additional information about your medicine and its use. * Inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions : KIDNEY DISEASE.

Common Use For Clonidine
For the management of ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION used alone or in combination with other agents. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor

How To Use Clonidine
Use Clonidine exactly as directed on the label, unless instructed differently by your doctor * Clonidine can be taken with or without food, REGARDLESS of meal times. If stomach upset occurs, take with food. * Use Clonidine for the full prescribed treatment period. DO NOT skip doses or discontinue unless directed by your doctor.

What To Do If You Miss A Dose
Take when remembered unless time for next dose. No double doses.

How To Store Clonidine
Keep in original closed container in a dark, cool, and dry place away from children. Discard unneeded medicine.

Clonidine Side Effects
Dry mouth; Drowsiness; Dizziness; Sedation; Constipation; Skin rash; Dizziness when getting up; Unusual tiredness or weakness; Vomiting; Nervousness; Urinating at night; Nausea; Impotence; Headache; Depression; Jitteriness; Decreased sexual ability; Decreased sexual desire; Decreased appetite; Weight gain; Difficult urination; Itching; Insomnia; Enlargement of the breasts in males; Cardiovascular irregularities; Blurred vision; Baldness; Decrease in hemoglobin concentration; Fever; Dizziness upon standing.


If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome, check with your doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE, CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.

Clonidine Precautions And Warnings
* Safety of use during pregnancy has not been established. Clonidine SHOULD NOT BE USED DURING PREGNANCY unless benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus. CALL YOUR DOCTOR. * Clonidine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. DO NOT drive or operate machinery until you become familiar with its effects. * AVOID concurrent use of alcohol or other CNS depressants as it may intensify the drowsiness, dizziness, or lightheadedness effect of Clonidine. * Because of INTERACTION with other drugs, report the use of any other prescription and nonprescription medicines to your doctor. * Regular follow-up visits to your OPHTHALMOLOGIST (eye doctor) are necessary to monitor visual problems.
