Before Using Propranolol
* Inform your Doctor or Pharmacist if you are allergic to any prescription or non-prescription medicine; taking other medicines or have other medical problems; pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. * Check with your Doctor, Pharmacists, or Nurse if information in this leaflet causes you special concern or if you want additional information about your medicine and its use. * Inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions : ASTHMA; DIABETES; KIDNEY DISEASE; LIVER DISEASE; THYROID problem.

Common Use For Propranolol
1- For the management of ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION used alone or in combination with other agents. 2- For the maintenance treatment of ANGINA PECTORIS 3- For the maintenance treatment of MIGRAINE HEADACHE 4- For the maintenance treatment of CARDIAC DYSRHYTHMIAS 5- For the maintenance treatment of SUBAORTIC STENOSIS 6- For the maintenance treatment of OLD MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION 7- For the maintenance treatment of ESSENTIAL TREMOR 8- As an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA / MEDULLOADRENAL HYPERFUNCTION following primary treatment with an alpha-adrenergic blocker. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor

How To Use Propranolol
Use Propranolol exactly as directed on the label, unless instructed differently by your doctor * Take Propranolol WITH MEALS. You may take immediately before or immediately after meals.

What To Do If You Miss A Propranolol Dose
Take when remembered unless time for next dose. No double doses.

How To Store Propranolol
Keep in original closed container in a dark, cool, and dry place away from children. Discard unneeded medicine.

Call Your Doctor Immediately If You Experience
Dizziness; Slowness of heartbeat; Unusual bleeding or bruising; Sore throat; Skin rash; Lightheadedness; Fever.

Propranolol Side Effects
Depression; Decreased sexual ability; Insomnia; Congestive heart failure; Hallucinations; Breathing difficulty; Unusual tiredness or weakness; Vomiting; Nausea; Diarrhea; Confusion; Abdominal discomfort or pain; Nightmares; Cardiovascular irregularities; Narrowing of airway passage; Abnormal blood cell count; Vertigo; Visual disturbances; Burning pain, tingling, or numbness; Increased sensitivity to sunlight; Muscle pain; Itching; Headache; Gas; Flu-like symptoms; Difficulty breathing; Dry mouth; Constipation; Cough; Bloating; Decreased sexual desire; Decreased appetite; Impotence.


If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome, check with your doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE, CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.

Propranolol Precautions And Warnings
* Safety of use during pregnancy has not been established. Propranolol SHOULD NOT BE USED DURING PREGNANCY unless benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus. CALL YOUR DOCTOR. * Propranolol is CONTRAINDICATED (should not be used) in patients with ASTHMA or bronchospasm, including severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. * STOP TAKING MEDICINE & GET EMERGENCY HELP IMMEDIATELY IF A HYPERSENSITIVITY OR ANAPHYLACTIC REACTION occurs: (see symptoms below):- * shortness of breath, fast or irregular breathing, fever, joint pain, fast pulse, lightheadedness or fainting, swelling of face, hives, & itching. * Because of INTERACTION with other drugs, report the use of any other prescription and nonprescription medicines to your doctor. * The results of some MEDICAL or LAB tests may be affected by Propranolol. Inform the doctor in charge that you are taking Propranolol. * Propranolol may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. DO NOT drive or operate machinery until you become familiar with its effects. * Notify physician if symptoms of CHF occur (eg, difficult breathing, especially on exertion or lying down; night cough; swelling of the extremities). * DIABETICS: Propranolol may mask signs of hypoglycemia or alter blood glucose levels.
