Before Using Fluoxetine
* Inform your Doctor or Pharmacist if you are allergic to any prescription or non-prescription medicine; taking other medicines or have other medical problems; pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. * Check with your Doctor, Pharmacists, or Nurse if information in this leaflet causes you special concern or if you want additional information about your medicine and its use. * Inform your doctor if you have any of these conditions : LIVER DISEASE.

Common Use For Fluoxetine
1- For the treatment of DEPRESSION 2- For the treatment of OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE DISORDERS 3- For the treatment of moderate to severe BINGE-EATING AND VOMITING BEHAVIORS It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor

How To Use Fluoxetine
Use Fluoxetine exactly as directed on the label, unless instructed differently by your doctor * ONCE DAILY dose should be taken in the morning. TWICE DAILY schedule is morning and noon. * Fluoxetine can be taken with or without food, REGARDLESS of meal times. If stomach upset occurs, take with food. * Use Fluoxetine for the full prescribed treatment period. DO NOT skip doses or discontinue unless directed by your doctor. * Swallow whole, unless otherwise directed by your physician. DO NOT crush or chew sustained release preparations.

What To Do If You Miss A Fluoxetine Dose
Take when remembered unless time for next dose. No double doses.

How To Store Fluoxetine
Keep in original closed container in a dark, cool, and dry place away from children. Discard unneeded medicine.

Call Your Doctor Immediately If You Experience
Itching; Skin rash.

Fluoxetine Side Effects
Nervousness; Nausea; Insomnia; Headache; Drowsiness; Dry mouth; Diarrhea; Indigestion; Sedation; Shakiness; Sweating; Unusual tiredness or weakness; Dizziness; Constipation; Anxiety; Low blood sugar level; Decreased appetite; Visual disturbances; Involuntary movements of eye, face, limb; Clenched jaw and teeth grinding.


If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome, check with your doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE, CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.

Fluoxetine Precautions And Warnings
* There are no adequate or well-controlled safety studies in pregnant women. NOTIFY YOUR DOCTOR IF PREGNANT or intend to become pregnant. * It is important that you do not stop taking your medications without consulting your physician. * Fluoxetine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. DO NOT drive or operate machinery until you become familiar with its effects. * AVOID concurrent use of alcohol or other CNS depressants as it may intensify the drowsiness, dizziness, or lightheadedness effect of Fluoxetine. * Fluoxetine may cause increased sensitivity to the sun. You should AVOID prolonged or excessive exposure to direct and/or artificial sunlight. * Because of INTERACTION with other drugs, report the use of any other prescription and nonprescription medicines to your doctor.
